Product Overview

American type of prefabricated substations are widely used in power distribution systems. They are not merely a combination of transformers and high- and low-voltage switchgear such as European-style substations, but an all-in-one electrical device developed on the basis of transformers. The integrated and simplified structure of the high-voltage side load switch and ring network switch, which are all immersed in the same oil tank as the transformer, greatly reduce the size and cost of the high-voltage side load switch and ring network switch. Another feature is the use of double fuse protection. The fuse has double current and temperature sensitivity, which greatly improves the protection sensitivity and reliability.

American-style prefabricated substations deliver fully enclosed, fully insulated performance that enables fast and easy installation with no long-term maintenance required. Therefore, American-style prefabricated substations have been widely applied in the European and American power distribution systems since the 1980s. These substations make up roughly 80%-90% of the distribution transformers, particularly in the USA, and are widely used in industrial parks, residential communities, commercial centers, high-rise buildings etc.

Core：The core of the prefabricated substation is small, rectangular and made of high quality oriented magnetic steel sheets. Low excitation current, low loss and low noise are design features. The core is of three phase five limb type design, so the zero sequence magnetic flux is carried by the two side limbs and does not flow through the enclosure, therefore there is no surface heating and iron losses are decreased.

Connection Group: American-style prefabricated substations adopt Dyn11 wiring according to the power distribution line load characteristics, which has high output voltage quality, no neutral point drift and good lightning protection. In the case of unbalanced three-phase load on the low-voltage side, the zero-sequence current and the third harmonic current can flow in the closed loop of the high-voltage winding, but the total zero-sequence magnetomotive force and the third harmonic magnetomotive force of each core column are approximately zero. So the potential of the neutral point of low voltage does not drift and the voltage quality of each phase is high. It can also flow in the closed loop of high voltage winding. The total magnetomotive force of lightning current on each core column is nearly zero. The forward and reverse transformation over voltages are eliminated. Thus the lightning protection performance is improved.

Painting Layer: The enclosure underwent eight pretreatment procedures for rigorous treatment before painting and then seven painting and baking procedures to complete painting. The paint on the surface of the enclosure has long service life and durable performance, suitable for different kinds of harsh environments.
